Animal Stories

Holly had a rough start to her life. She came to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton after being removed from a home as part of a hoarding case. She was one of nearly 150 animals removed from the home including rabbits, birds and chickens.

Although her life did not start well, Holly had nothing but greatness ahead of her. After the Humane Society cared for her and made her healthy again, she was relocated to the Cleveland Animal Protective League where she was then adopted by the Akron Zoo. In no time at all, Holly fit right in to her new surroundings!

She is now actually part of the zoo's animal ambassador program and works with zoo staff on the Zoomobile to help teach people about pet responsibility and the important role rabbits play in the wild. She spends her days visiting schools, libraries, camps and senior centers with her new friends including another rabbit, a guinea pig and a chinchilla.
